Community Revitalization Programs
Sharon/Farrell Weed and Seed
A 60-block targeted area of Sharon and Farrell remains the core of revitalization efforts to improve the quality of life in neighborhoods facing the struggle of blight removal, crime reduction and neighborhood improvements.
This program is in its 6th year of empowering resident involvement in addressing community needs through the actions of law enforcement, agency collaborations and resident empowerment.
Our community-driven projects include: leadership training, youth anti-drug initiatives, youth neighborhood beautification projects, and forums to empower youth against gang involvement.
Sharon/Farrell Elm Street Project
The Elm Street Program assists to further CAPMC community revitalization efforts through funds to improve streetscapes, rehab neighborhood facades and assist municipalities in acquisition of properties with tax liens.
The award allows for $250,000 to be received annually for five years in support of efforts to make physical improvements to the “Elm Street Corridor” which crosses the borders of both cities: the Avenues of Hamilton and Fruit in Farrell; New Castle and George in Sharon. Collaboration among the municipalities and resident involvement in the local project has been crucial in obtaining this award.
