Energy Weatherization Programs
This program is designed to reduce the usage of energy consumption in the home through the installation of energy conversation measures such as attic and sidewall insulation.
It will also correct minor existing health and safety issues. This program is offered to any household whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Determination of income eligibility is based on the total income of all persons residing in the dwelling for a period of twelve months preceding the date of application. The dwelling can either be a rental or owner occupied unit. All applications must be accompanied by a copy of the deed, title, or current year’s taxes, and verification of income. We also provide utility weatherization programs for the following companies: National Fuel Gas, Pennsylvania Power, Dominion’s Peoples Gas, Allegheny Power and Pennsylvania-American Water.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist families with energy costs. LIHEAP provides federally funded assistance to reduce the costs associated with home energy bills, energy crises, weatherization, and minor energy-related home repairs.
LIHEAP can help you stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer through programs that reduce the risk of health and safety problems that arise from unsafe heating and cooling situations and practices.
The WARM Program (Low Income Usage Reduction Program) is a free energy-saving initiative for eligible FirstEnergy (Penelec/West Penn Power) residential customers in Pennsylvania. It helps reduce energy bills through in-home evaluations, energy education, and improvements like insulation, weather-stripping, and appliance, such as refrigerators or air conditioners, upgrades for income-eligible households.
The National Fuel Gas (NFG) Corporation’s Low Income Usage Reduction Program (LIURP) provides free energy efficiency services to low-income customers to help reduce their energy usage and natural gas bills. Homeowners and renters at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.
National Fuel Gas Emergency Repair/Replace Program provides low-income customers with an emergency need for repair or replacement of a gas hot water heater or gas heating system. Homeowners only, who are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.
This home-heating assistance grant program is available on a first-come, first-served basis and provides low-income Western New Yorkers with help to:
Prevent disconnection of their service
Pay current or past-due energy bills (excluding electric utilities)
Purchase home heating fuel of any kind
Qualifying individuals or families may receive a one-time grant of up to $300 per program year.
