Early Childhood Development

Early Childhood Division

The Early Childhood Division is now fully administered and operated by Community Action Partnership of Mercer County (CAPMC).

The State and Federal Head Start Programs as well as the state funded Pre-K Counts Programs serve preschool children ages 3 to 5. The federally funded Early Head Start program serves Pregnant Women and children ages 0 to 3. Families participating must live in Mercer County, have children within the stated age ranges and meet the federal or state income guidelines.

Families accessing preschool services in Early Head Start and Head Start Programs must have incomes at or below the 100% federal poverty guidelines while families accessing preschool services in the state Pre K Counts program can have incomes up to 300% of the federal poverty guidelines. Effective July 1, 2024, the program will be moving to the Chaver Center on Federal Street in Farrell, PA.
